Founded in 2018 by Julien Wosnitza, Wings of the Ocean is an association that fights against plastic pollution in order to preserve living things.
It carries out its actions by acting directly on the pollution, making the problem visible and reducing the pollution.
More precisely, they collect litter by carrying out a minimum of three clean-up actions per week and per project; they raise public awareness by carrying out regular interventions (ship visits, conferences, presentations, workshops, stands, etc.); and finally, they look for solutions to reduce this pollution at the source.
To do this, they help companies to reduce their plastic production; they work with public authorities to reduce the pollution present on their territories and finally they constitute a network of partners of the revalorization in order to give a second life to waste.
In total:

In 2022, Wings of the Ocean becomes the first French association of depollution.
Their various projects:
- The Kraken's mission
3-masted sailboat of a little more than 40m longIt is a three-masted sailing boat of more than 40 meters in length, carrying 30 volunteers who adopt a sustainable and conscious lifestyle on board. It allows the crew to carry out actions of depollution and awareness while moving from island to island which are difficult to access in the respect of the environment, to carry out actions of depollution and awareness.

2021:
- 9 months of missions in the Atlantic islands have been carried out.
- 76 clean-up actions were carried out in 2021, 20 of which in collaboration with associations.
- 14,236 kilos of waste were collected on these different islands, or 104,277 liters.
- 54.2 hectares cleaned up, the equivalent of almost 76 soccer fields.
Forecast for 2023:
The kraken ventures this year in the Mediterranean and more precisely on the Ionian Islands where 700 000 tons of waste is produced per year.
- The Scylla mission
This 28m aluminum exploration sailboat is specially designed for the northern seas. It is currently sailing along the French Atlantic coast.The Scylla crew, composed of 12 to 14 people, is involved in schools, colleges, high schools and social centers. Its aim is to show that it is possible to sail in a more ecological way .
- The SUD mission
The Mission Sud is an itinerant project that takes place in July and August on the French Mediterranean coast, more precisely from Sète to Nice, with the aim of cleaning up and raising awareness among holidaymakers who are present in large numbers during this period. For your information, in 2022, the mission was done by bike!
In 2021, the mission was carried out on a hundred-year-old rig and resulted in the collection of 9.5 tons of waste.
In 2022, Wings Of the Ocean wanted to focus mainly on ponds, basins and lagoons. This leads us to 3 missions:
- The mission of the Etang de Berre
The pond of Berre is especially known for its concentration of industrial activity. In view of the various existing pollutions, the problem of illegal waste has often been put in the background. Wings of the Ocean was therefore very interested in the subject and it and it appeared that the waste was present in greater quantity in the South of the pond and thus, a good number of actions were carried out in the concerned communes.

- This led to 80 cleanups,
- Wings members remove 15,781 kilograms of trash from the pond, representing a total volume of 95,221 liters.
- In all, the 16 tons of litter removed.
- The Arcachon Basin mission
Following the results of the Berre Pond mission, Wings of the Ocean has decided to tackle the Arcachon Basin in 2022.
The mission took place over 6 months, from May to October with other local associations for a maximum impact on the long term.
- The mission of the pond of Thau
Following the mission Kraken and the mission South, the association to notice that the pond of Thau owed a special mission considering all the industrial activity which is there.
The Thau lagoon has one of the highest strongest populations of seahorses in Europe, and has therefore aroused a lot of interest for the association.
The mission was carried out over a period of 6 months, 15 volunteers made 80 waste collections.
Their label
Since 2022, Wings of The Ocean has created a label with the aim of democratizing pollution control.
The concept is very simple:To propose to boat owners to carry out at least 3 actions of depollutions in the name of the association per year, and to have in return an access to a book of partners, which thus makes it possibleto have advantages such as reductions or material for possible work or to provide itself in material.
