Is ROKA Smart UV® a natural ingredient?
ROKA is a patented, chemically synthesized active ingredient developed by Spanish Deep Tech company ROKA Furadada. Their ambition is to reduce the incidence of skin cancer and other skin diseases linked to UV radiation through the research, development, production and sale of highly effective active ingredients with low toxicological and environmental impact.
Should I apply suncare products when the sun isn't shining?
Yes and no...
UV protection protects against 2 types of UV rays:
- UVB: 5% of rays, responsible for sunburn (B=Bruise). They are mainly absorbed by the epidermis, the upper layer of the skin
- UVA: 95% of UV rays, responsible for the long-term effects on the skin: hyperpigmentation (brown spots) and premature aging of the skin (A=Age), present outdoors every day, whatever the weather (invisible enemy). UVA rays have a longer wavelength, enabling them to penetrate deeper into the skin, reaching the dermis, the skin's intermediate layer.
Traditional UV protection needs to be applied every 2 hours to maintain its UVB and UVA efficacy. Not easy for everyday use.... But the good news is that most of us don't need UVB protection on a daily basis... ROKA Smart UV® technology provides UVA protection for up to 8 hours without reapplication.
